Our master bedroom off a hallway has a 50" x 82" opening currently with roughly 48" french doors. We do not like the two 24" doors as the one usually stays latched shut and the other 24" door is a little narrow to walk through. We're in process of redoing the flooring and trim and are planning replacing the old oak hollow core doors. Does anyone have any suggestions on what to replace the doors with?

We see a few options with those being barn doors, framing in a more standard 36" door, living with a 48" french door, or trying to make a custom french/split door with something like an 18" and 30" door. The barn door(s) seem a little tough as they will only be able to slide one way since the door (facing south) is next to the east wall and I would like reasonable light and sound abatement as this is our bedroom.

Style isn't a mega concern for us as our house is a good but basic 1990s ranch home and the master door isn't visible unless you're in the hallway at the end of the house. We're just looking for a practical solution to not having 48" french doors.
