Is it of easy culture?

Hi, Dave ... Yes, I find that it is very easy. It thrives in bright filtered light but can also tolerate direct sunlight. It loves humidity and water but grows well in dry conditions as well. The leaves do begin to wilt when it needs water, which can be 2x weekly in our tropical climate. Mine has never suffered rot. It does tolerate wilt very well and the leaves just bounce right back when limp for several days. In cooler regions it will require less water and will drop its leaves when cold. Fertilize monthly during the growing season. I have never had problems with pests.

There are 17 varieties of Pereskia, each with different blooms. They are easily propagated via cuttings. Mine was a 4'' cutting, which took about 1.5 years to begin to grow, really leaf and branch out, and bloom. I have it in a tall 10'' pot on my balcony, where it receives direct morning sun followed by high lumen filtered light after 10 am. It is a good bloomer and makes a great container plant. The leaves and fruit are edible.

In other words, it will adapt to the culture you create for it. The spines are real ... Don't let the leaves fool you.
