In general, i prefer white over gray. but it depends on the specific shade of white or gray, and how they look next to your counters.

The gray color can be tricky - there's warm gray and cool gray, gray with blue undertones, or pink undertones or yellow undertones, then there's light and dark grays. Your question is hard to answer without knowing what kind of gray color cabinets you mean.

I like white cabinets - we get posts on this forum practically daily asking about painting existing wood cabinets white, but we never get posts asking how to change white cabinets to something else. The top photo below is a kitchen with white cabinetry, Viscon White granite, and black glossy tile backsplash (Gioia Lava porcelain) for drama. That might be hard to pull off without a large kitchen with high ceilings, but it gives an idea of what can be done.

Both the granites you mention are beautiful. The more wavy, the better. The slight preference for me goes to Silver Cloud because it is more likely to having some solid color chunks in it - those are actually more desirable - you can make the chunk the centerpiece of an island for example. But both granites are winners, and also easy care.

IMO gary is a color you either love and have used forever or stick with white . I have used shades of gray in my decor forever so I hve no issue with gray cabinets but I did 1/2 whilte high gloss and 1/2 stainless cabinets in this house . As for the style of the cabinets that depends on the style you have going on in the rest of the house . I happen to love white high gloss from Ikea but I have a very contemporsy style in my home. So share a bit more info and we can help much better.

There are also different shades of white, so while I'm with nearly everyone else as far as preferring white to gray (I think it has more general appeal), make sure the white has the right undertone. I guess what I hate is all-white kitchens that are blinding and sterile looking. I love what you're considering for the counters as it's very interesting. Like Susan George said, don't cheap out. If you use quality cabinetry you can reface them down the road if you get tired of white. If they're cheap they'll break down in a hurry.

Since your countertops are going to be busy, you should keep your backsplash simple.

It really depends on the rest of your home and your other color choices. What color are the floors? Are you repainting the walls? Are you painting the trim? What colors are in the dining room or living room - whatever rooms are visible from your kitchen or pass through on the way to the kitchen. What is your general style?

This would be close to what we arr trying to acheive. i agree that white is classic but white can can be hard to keep clean in my opion at least.

White is a classic. Gray has been waaaaaay overdone recently, and I'm afraid that in a few years you (and others) will be saying that it's very dated.

How about something completely different? How about a mossy, sea foamy green that is grayed down?

I am sorry, but I think your photo shows how a beautiful stone can be dulled down by monochromatic gray all around it. I would not want to wake up to that kitchen each morning.

Gray is so 20-teens.

I love gray in general - but as a realtor I am not seeing any gray kitchens anymore (new builds, remodels) - it’s either white or wood. I’d steer clear of gray cabinets.

I think your example gray cabinets are beautiful, but they also seem way too warm for the cool tones in your stone. Take some paint chips around with you to visit the slabs!
