Missing Sektion Base Cabinet Solution Ideas?

Hello. I know if anyone can help solve this puzzle it's this community.

Our kitchen remodel is due to start in two weeks. We just found out last night that 2 of our Sektion base cabinets, both 15" depth and one 30" wide and the other 36" wide, are out of stock until at least mid October. Because of the dimensions of our kitchen, the 30" piece can't be any deeper than 15".

Anyone have any solution ideas? Maybe know of a cabinet line that's interchangeable with IKEA Sektion? Or, had any experience trimming down IKEA cabinets to make them work? Maybe cutting a 36" width down to 30" or a 24" depth down to 15"? Had a custom cabinet made to match the IKEA product? Or, maybe you've had luck tracking down Sektion cabinets before their back in stock date?

And, would you have most of the kitchen work done and just set aside slab for the eventual install once the one 30x15 cabinet comes in? Or, wait until all pieces are in?

Any and all ideas are welcome and thank you for any help you have to offer.

Best to you,

Shelby

Any decent installer can make that work. Its just a box. Can cut 24’’s , use wall cabs . A lot of different ways. I do it every day. The question is what’s avaible to work with.

If they are in the middle of a run cutting down the width could work- meaning buy a 36" wide cabinet and trim the base and back to fit.

Did they look at using wall cabinets of the same dimension instead (with the old line the shallow 'base cabinets' were just wall cabinets, now they make shallow base cabinets that are essentially wall cabinets without a top)

Depending on what is going in the cabinets you could by the 24" depth cabinet and trim it to 15"...

Oh wow! No, they didn't mention using the wall cabinet but I really appreciate your insight there! I'm meeting with the IKEA designer to sleuth this out tomorrow and will definitely ask about that option. And thank you too for your tips on the cuts. Both your ideas give me hope.

You could aslo try other Ikea stores for stock it might be cheaper to have them shipped tha void the warranty by messing with the cabinets. You could try wall cabinets for sure but I would ask Ikea about doing that.

Thanks Patricia. I will do. I've checked all up and down the west coast and no luck so far but I'll broaden my search. And thank you for the reminder about the warranty. :)

Ikea won't ship from strores (only from warehouse). We needed the Karlby Walnut Island Countertop and none were available to ship. My DH drove to Cincinnati to purchase ours. Cincinnati was the closest store that had them in stock. I live in Pgh and there were none at the Pgh location. 12 hours round trip from Pgh to Cincinnati and back.

Oh Wow! That's true love. So glad you found it! No luck yet but I'll keep broadening that search. Was he able to buy via the click and buy so that he knew it would be there for him after that long drive? Bravo.

No, for some reason "click and buy" did not work. The web site said they had 5 in stock so he took a chance. Apparently the stock quotes are pretty accurate.
