Why not just paint the ones you have the is actual paint for them

It depends on whether or not you have a standard size. You can get black paint that is fire rated to cover the brass, but depending the on the style, brass is currently back on trend. I changed outdated handles on a glass insert for black ones, and that would be easy to do. You could also remove the doors and use a free standing fire screen instead, but it won't be as insulated if you're in a cold climate.

Not only are there size limitations to custom doors, there are things that make it where standard doors won't fit even if your fireplace is within the size constraints. Brick columns at the opening, a ledge across the top, uneven facing like stone, arched openings are all examples of reasons you would need a custom door.

Post some pictures of the fireplace along with the dimensions and I'll tell you whether or not you need a custom door as well as provide some advice on why you may or may not want custom doors based the pictures you provide.

Hi @Hansen Wholesale - Sorry for the delay responding! I had boxes in front of the fireplace and finally put them away around Halloween. Here is a photo of the fireplace with the brass doors. I don't know the exact measurements of the brick opening since the doors are covering it.

The measurements of the entire brass cover is 43 1/3" x 29 1/4".

The inside mesh doors are 36" x 25"

I actually am a short drive from your office building. Do you have a showroom there?

@calidesign - I am seeing brass decor accents everywhere. :) But this will be the only brass in my house. And this fireplace door is a lot of brass in one place lol!

Agree with the first comment - don’t waste your money! You should be able to remove and then spray paint using a flat metallic (many options) or flat black paint. I’ve done it - very easy! But what I can’t remember is what I did to prep?? Just do some research online or ask in a paint store or paint dept., since with your high-gloss surface, you may need to first spray a primer coat. Much cheaper and easier solution!

Looks like the high-heat spray paints are self-priming. Google “spray painting fireplace doors”.
