Many Hindu religious texts discourage alcohol, but I can't imagine that the stein itself would make any difference.

It will make a difference if there is no drain hole.

I have several of these....just finished blooming. I water mine once a week. They sit in a South-East facing window, with Low E glass and an overhang.

As well as the drainage issue, containers with straight or inward angled sides are a nightmare for repotting. You can end up having to break the container.

I put stones at the bottom of the container for drainage

Stones are useless. You need a pot with holes in the bottom.

Stones, gravel, pot shards, anything other than potting media placed at the base of the container actually impedes good drainage rather than improve it.

This is a pretty succulent plant that does not appreciate a very moisture retentive potting media. Mine is happiest in a cactus/succulent potting mix.

It needs to be in a container with a drainage hole, as others have said, and planted in a fast-draining medium. You can find cactus and succulent potting medium at Lowe's and other places. Also pls check this plant carefully as this Hoya (compacta, as said above) can get mealy bugs easily inside all its nooks & crannies, partly why I stopped growing this particular Hoya, even tho' I really like the look of it.
