I am so lucky I have views in every direction. Here is the view Paul Barden's 27-07-16 "Angry Juno" rose has from his alcove shelter. (I don't know if the cat is male or female).

Sheila, as one of the barn lovers, thank you for including it. Your natural surroundings are a perfect counterbalance to your roses. You've tempted me to install a sandy colored wall for my Mel's Heritage. Perfect combo. I've zoomed in on your teas a dozen times.

What do you think of the scent of Star of the Republic? I love it.

Arcadia Louisiana Tea is my favorite of your roses that I don't have. That dusty pink is so "Victorian", lol. The other one I'm hoping to get soon is Ivor's rose.

Mel IS photogenic; we should all send thanks to Paul for such a stellar rose.

And of course you have G. Nabonnand, one of my all-time favorites, and he loves you, lol. Mine is a baby, two years old, but this will be his first winter in the ground. Wish him luck...our winter is *supposed* to be mild this year.

Congrats on having so much beauty this Fall after such a terribly hot, dry summer.

Thank you John, and all of you wonderful, supportive people! Star of the Republic is glorious, John. It is so fragrant and beautiful and the blooms last forever. Mine was originally tucked next to a tree and starved until this Summer. It is shocking to see the difference the improved conditions make for this rose. I really am astounded and cannot wait to have a huge bush. I have just started using the wire gopher baskets so I am hoping we have an improved Winter with less roses toppling over from root damage. The arborists are here thinning the trees as we speak.

Thanks, Sheila. Your pictures are eye candy for me. As I am looking forward to completing more landscaping around our house, I'm making a lot of lists and notes for myself for my new garden areas. Seeing your roses that have obviously thrived in spite of your hot dry summer is a confirmation to me, because many of the ones on my wish list are doing well in your gardens. We rarely get many days in the triple digits here, because, even though we're in Southern Arizona, we're high elevation. So the sunshine is intense and that's the factor I take into account when choosing roses. Maggie is high on my list. I am nursing my little baby Annie Laurie Mcdowell plants and look forward to seeing them in the landscape. Mel's Heritage is one I really want! Louisiana Tea is another one I've been considering. It looks like it's doing well for you! Those powdery pink full blossoms are so lovely and feminine. Thanks again for all your lovely photos! I can't wait till our landscaping is that mature.

Sheila, thank you for this splendid tour of your garden. The very last last photo is pure art with the colors layering on to create such depth. The picture does say goodbye to me. And thank you for the luscious Evelyn photo. I wish mine were performing half as well. Obviously, this Evelyn likes her pot, but what are you putting into the pot that she likes so well? I love your wide variety of roses, the settings, the sky photos, and of course, the barn. You get a picturesque barn without the upkeep. I got a chuckle out of the faucet finial at the top of the little tuteur. Bubblebath is a frilly charmer, and like everyone else, I love Mel's Heritage reaching for that wall. Thank you, Diane and all you supportive gardeners. This Evelyn, Diane, is my grafted one. The own root one I'd dug out of hot sand, moved to the South fence, got it's roots eaten by gophers, had to move to a pot, and has now been planted back on the South fence in a gopher root basket, has produced pretty roses but not this type yet. He has had quite the year we all agree. I bet he'll do this next Summer. Bubble Bath has an update.

Oooooh! Thank you Shelia for your garden update. I love Maggie’s color. I have a baby Maggie that needs another year to really start blooming. Bubble Bath is the perfect name for that rose…what a charmer. I think Teas can take the heat in mild climates where they can grow and bloom in the fall, winter and spring and just go dormant in summer. My Monsieur Tillier is having its second fall flush. My Star of the Republic is still very gangly in growth. Each bloom is very similar to Evelyn, at least from the pictures I have seen of him. SotR bloom fragrance is either pure black pepper or pepper and lemons for me, but many blooms have no fragrance so probably something to do with my soil and climate. How does yours smell?

I find SotR very fragrant, Stephanie but the specifics elude me at the moment. I have a Tea that is supposed to be William R. Smith that really looks more like Marie van Houtte to me (from research) but MvH is supposed to be known for fragrance. My plant gives me nothing for fragrance. Does that mean it really is William R. Smith? Who knows? I wish the Tea ladies could visit and tell me for sure. My nose is not the best (allergies), but I can smell SotR. I had to move SotR to a better spot here and mine is still gangly too but it has just gotten started. It is now next to the replanted own root Evelyn and they do look similar.

Thank you Sheila for the wonderful photos!! (Except I can't help but cringe at the "gorgeous" sunset photos - I know well what a blanket of awful smoke is creating that beautiful effect...) Your property and your roses are amazing and they're cheering me up on this grey rainy morning!

It's the time of year I turn to Houzz for my garden fix, now that the IRL garden is on its way to sleep for the winter and I'm finally getting to the end of the annual avalanche of produce (although I do still have plates and plates of apples, pears, persimmons, and tomatoes (!) to deal with...and a lot of raking I should get started on....)

Luckily (?) I've identified a long stairway on my back property that would, I think, really benefit from being lined with roses on one side and also a 50' stretch in front of the plum trees that likewise really needs some color to make it interesting...So I'm on the hunt for more roses to order!!! LOLOL And looking through your photos gives me a great starting point, there are a fair number of yours that I don't have yet. Darn, more rose research for the winter!

Star of the Republic is one that I've had on my list for a while, it is going on my spring shopping list for sure.
