What color to paint the staircase

Hi,

We have a staicase in our home that we want to repaint to get rid of the wood look. The spindles are currently white with the railing and stringers, ect. wood. The majority of our house is Grey with matte black hardware. We also plan on going with a lighter tan carpet than the brown thats currently in the home.

The wife thinks we should paint it all white. I like the idea of keeping the spindles white and everything else like a semi gloss Black. We are both open to different looks as neither of us are any good at picking out interior colors. thanks for any help!

Because of the style of the spindles, I‘d be afraid all white might look old fashion, especially with full carpeting.

If you decide on white, if budget allows, I‘d change the spindles.

Black pictures to help and instead of black base, white might look nice and then add a runner instead of full carpeting if steps allowed.

There are lots of examples on Pinterest that may help you decide. Also reconsider a satin finish vs semi-gloss (see above).

Thanks for your response! I really like the third picture (white & black) staircase you posted. Also, I said semi-gloss, but I think I was more referring to satin as what you pictured! Thanks again
