You do not need to light the facade of a house at night, just the normal lighting at the entry and driveway area.

I don’t know if you still can, but ideally I’d want to see can lights installed in the roofs pitches. Not all of them. But some.
The photo you show looks like outdoor DIY stick in the ground type lights.

On our home we have lights in the soffits on either side of each front window. We then have lights outside the front door and outside the garage. We rarely turn on the soffit lights but I do like them for when we are entertaining in the evening or on nights like tonight for Halloween! Otherwise they are overkill. Day to day we have lights on outside door only.

With your house's design, I would recommend utilizing the lights above the garage doors, in the ceiling of the porch, and illuminating some of the trees. Similar to Beverly's first "good" image.

The big difference I notice between your house and the inspiration house is that house is set back from the street and surrounded by lots of mature trees., and that your house is right on the street and will have no room for the mature type of landscaping that house has. And in my opinion, the lighting on your inspiration house is still too much. It doesn't really flatter the house and it is randomly uniform. It doesn't really highlight the entrance or lead you anywhere--it highlights a far corner of the house almost like it's for security. The best of Beverly's examples imo, has No lighting directed At the house, the porch is lit, as it should be and the rest highlights the path or trees. You also have a lot of garage and I feel like if you light that it will look like security lighting and not landscape lighting.

What purpose does that serve?

Lighting should illuminate house numbers, walkways, entryways, stairs, steps, and possible obstacles, prevent pratfalls, and deter lurking and theft if possible.

If there is a porch, that is lit as well.

You must mean gables. Less is more. Subtle is best. You have lots of gables and architectural details. If you light them all up, your home will look more like a Disney attraction. Plan landscaping and lighting at the same time with some proven pros in your area.

In all the examples posted there are no garage doors visible. Unfortunately over half your facade is garage doors, which does not make it a good candidate for uplighting. You need a local lighting consultant, even if it is just to talk you out of uplighting.

Maybe that is true, I don't know, but you will have a heck of a utility bill.

If that is your reason, maybe you can consult a pest control company or a bird/bat control company about the best way to handle this situation because those owl statues really don't do very much.

I would do porch lights to draw all the attention to that area and away from the garages. Make that a warm inviting entry.
