Master Bedroom refresh - lamp or other suggestions?

(Please ignore the hideous paint colors—we plan to paint.) We moved the bed, and read suggestions on Houzz to add curtains behind bed to disguise the 2 windows (which are not centered). NoteWe will add another curtain panel once the bracket arrives. Note: we removed night stands (Bassett Eden House style—which matches the dresser, mirror and chest (not shown)). We replaced the nightstands with Bassett Oak Park end tables (shown in picture) to change it up a bit. What are your suggestions to further refresh this space? I’d like to not spend much $ on new furniture but thought some different lamps may help. And not sure if we should move the chest from the end of master bed? Additionally, not sure what to do with the walls to the sides of the bed. There is not much space and I don’t want it to feel cluttered. Appreciate any suggestions.

I would get some wall art , decor for walls, up to date chandelier.

I don't like ceiling lights in a bedroom - doesn't do anyone any favors. Much prefer a table lamp or wall sconce in each corner at chest height.

Centering, is in IMO, evil.

Why do you have to center anything. I would remove the curatin panels and expose the windows. regardless of what they look like.

I would also use up/down bambo shades, inside mount.(shades come in a variety of colors, grays, too, if that's your preference.

Hang a drape rod at the ceiling, and get some textured fabric of your liking, flank the windows.

... for privacy, pull the blinds, the drapes are just for texture and softness.

I would also find two different bedside tables, tall slim lamps.

Paint the entire room, ceiling and walls the same color.

replace the light fixture with a ceiling light that is more attractive than useful, like a statement fixture that sheds light upward I'd post something, but I don't know your style.

You're heading in the right direction - definitely get new bedside table lamps, and a new ceiling fan if you need a fan in the room. Otherwise, get a semi-flush light fixture. As the previous poster said, not sure what style you're going for, so can't recommend anything in particular. For me, the chest at the end of the bed blends in with the bed so isn't adding anything to the room.

I would start with a much larger crown molding.
New light fixture.
New bench.

Or at least a cushion for the bench.
Would you consider wallpaper on the top half of the wall?

The curtains don't look good. I would build a faux wall or use those snap in upholstered panels. The cedar chest is not suited to the style of the sleigh bed, so replace it with an upholstered bench if you need a place to sit. Bedside tables are too short. Can you find something to put under the legs to raise them to mattress height? A chunky bed and nightstands require chunky lamps. To make the room look less long and skinny, remove the chair rail and paint all one color. The rail serves no purpose here since there are no chairs to bang into the wall as there would be in the dining room.
