Filter for well pump?

last modified: 4 years ago

This 1 hp pump is about 47m down a 60m well, and the issue is about whether it would be a good idea to install a water filter to clean the water before it enters the holding tank in the attic. The idea would be to avoid having to clean the build up of residue in the tank, as well as cleaning or replacing of faucet filters in the house.I asked a plumbing shop about see-through filters where the build up of dirt would be visible, so that it could be maintained in good condition by cleaning or replacing the filter. The man in the shop said it's better with no filter because if it got blocked, I would have to replace the well pump, or words to that effect. So this is my dilemma, to add a see-through filter or just have to clean out the tank sludge every so often ( I haven't actually cleaned it for some years). Any thoughts on the best strategy? Thanks
