I am bumping my post up because I see that my BOP are definitely sending up two floral spikes for the first time and was wondering if the parent plant dies after flowering. There are many suckers so not too concerned if not, but was just curious. And if they don't die back, can the same plant send up additional spikes in future.

I don't remember when mine bloomed last but it was in summer as I recall. I wonder why I even keep mine but maybe because I grew it from seed so there is some sentimental value. It takes up a lot of space and the roots are quite thick and large (I had to root prune it so it wouldn't grow out of the large pot I had it in. It had pushed up 3 to 4 inches above the rim of the pot.

No, the parent doesn't die after flowering. And yes, it can flower again.
