What is the heat like coming from that fireplace? Is it wood burning or gas and is it used much? I would check the tv specs on it being close to a fireplace if hung above.

A tv that size would overwhelm the fireplace which is nice the way it is. Isn't there anywhere else you could put the tv? I bet if you post a layout of the room along with pictures of all of the wall you would get help on a better place to put the tv.

In addition to it likely being uncomfortably high to watch unless the room is huge, the heat from any useful fireplace will not be good for the tv. At least consider alternatives.

I think it's supposed to be OK to hang a TV above a gas fireplace. Many people (like me) pretty much do this if t's the only rational place to set a TV, and then just don't use the FP at all.

Would it be possible to see the other walls in the space? There might be a better place to hang the TV, even on an articulating arm, and a different layout that might work better for your space as well.

@MARGARITA BRAVO Here is the picture of the corner wall. The TV shown in the picture is not 65 inch.

I agree with cubby14's comment. It seems a 65" TV would completely take over your nice fireplace.

Since that corner is sort of a wasted space, why not build across and have an offset fireplace with a lower built in section. It would off set the size of the tv.

You still have to be conscious of how high it is compared to the seating area ( you should be at least 7 ft away. There are mounting brackets that allow you to pull the tv forward and lower for when the fireplace is not in use.

It looks ridiculous above the fireplace.

What is the width of the brick on the fireplace? It doesn't look wide enough to handle a 65" TV and even if it is, the proportions will look really bad. Can you put the 65" TV in a different room and get a smaller one for over the FP?

P.S. Debbi's idea above is a good one, assuming you can match the current stone.

That's a really weird room. What you have now simply will not work while also looking good. The mantle is too high to mount any TV comfortably, that nook is crazy deep, and the TV you want is way too big. It's a gas fireplace. Do you really need it? Tear it all out and do a proper built-in that makes sense for the humongous TV.

If you did a built-in, the gap behind it could be converted into a small closet that's accessible from the room behind there. (or just forget about it if you already have plenty of storage.)

If you must have a fireplace, then rip this all out and redesign it entirely. Get a wide fireplace that's low set. Kind of like this layout (but it doesn't have to be this style).

If the tv absolutely must be in that room, you need a smaller tv. The size and placement of the tv in the staged room is appropriate.
65 in is way too large for that space.

Do you go in and out of those french doors alot? If not, maybe you can shift the room and do the tv on the wall opposite the doors and back the couch a couple feet in front of the doors. I dislike french doors because the swing really can mess up a room.

How Far are you willing to go with this project? If the budget allows, I would look to the more extreme options - tear the fireplace out and redo, try a different layout of furniture , even if it means changing from french doors to sliders, do a proper corner built in for the tv using all the wall space up to the trim of the door??

Ugh - this is a tough one

Agree the solution isn’t easy but that television over that fireplace will look wrong. A smaller tv to the right is the best idea. The mantle makes the television too high, no matter how big it is.

A complete renovation of the space is a great idea, as others have said, but needs a financial commitment you may not be willing to do at this time.

Hi J G - I know this is an old thread but wanted to see what you ended up doing? Am in a similar situation. These comments were rough, I feel like a TV above the FP in your LR would be fine, perhaps a mantel modification.
