It doesn't appear you'll have enough task lighting for working at the island. And the can placement is off for the two counter spaces on either side of the range. 450 lumens at the counter is the recommendation. Undercab lights would help. 2 pendants if any.

If I go 2, how big can I go? It would be 31 inches from counter top on either side. And would lt look lame to add a can light in the middle one?

Two large pendants - think really big. I would get something that has glass but doesn't have to be solid glass.

We did 2 black on our 10' island. They're 20" diameter.

Those are Hinkley lighting, but not so long ago I saw some knock off's on amazon.

I don't think you need hammered metal black in your space. Ill put them in for you.

By adding a recessed light over the sink I think you will have ample light.

How many switches do you have?

Not sure your lights were hung too low. Whether the light is above the counter or the table top it would be about 60" above the finished floor.

The room needs the contrast of a dark fixture to create texture and depth in the kitchen.

@RL Relocation LLC This is definitely not an inexpensive project and I wish I'd known to look for those things. I believe the drafter puts them there and the builder complies? IDK! I'll have to ask TODAY! Also, I love that you are capable of inserting those on the picture (i'll have to practice). Finally, I should've jumped on here sooner as you all are so helpful. Funny though that @RL Relocation LLC thinks more glass lighting and @BeverlyFLADeziner thinks black. I don't have pictured here, but the great room that is not shown has a mostly black with brushed bronze centered fan and the dining to the right has a black with shades chandelier. Entry way that will be noticeable has is black with a white drum shade candelabra type light. I am a PE teacher, this is not my strong suit, but I think the lights look good together, but struggling with these pendants!

I like the Hinkley because they have both black and glass. but it is totally up to you. The scale you have is not bad, just bad pendants. I like 2 because the off center issue becomes less noticeable. Imo the two-tone cabinets, and backsplash bring contrast and depth.

seems through the process some of the plans may have changed, so the lighting should have changed with it.

Yes, I think the Hinkley is the best of both worlds. It has enough black to make a presence, tie in the cabinet hardware, and go with your other lights. But doesn’t have too much black. I like that the globe is not clear glass, but frosted white. My eyes don’t like looking at the lightbulbs in clear glass. Also the clear glass seems like they will need cleaning way more often. I like it with two pendants.

I have black pendants (think they are called schoolhouse style) and white cabinets with the stacked uppers with glass just like yours. Now I want to switch mine out with those Hinkleys!

SO, I guess someone should have picked up on the IE the general contractor, electrician, or the people who drafted the revise...

Unfortunately my husband had an opinion too! I had something very similar to the Hinkleys on my list as well but DH made a grimace face and nixed them. Too bad we're not the only ones living in our houses :)
