Need help with quartz to go with my Alabaster cabinets

last modified: 4 years ago

We are remodeling our kitchen and getting new cabinets. I picked SW Alabaster white color because I did want stark white cabinets. I'm now regretting my decision and worried they will be too yellow and more off white and not white enough. The sample I had looked at seemed to be close to my cabinets that I have now which I like. I currently have BM white Dove and love it. It's the perfect warm white but the cabinet maker only uses Sherwin William paint.. I am also doing an island in a SW naval with gray glaze. I orginally thought I was doing LG cirrus quartz but now want something that shows more movement or streaks. I like Hanstone Montauk... and marble like look. I'm now worried that the quartz I like will be too white and will clash with the cabinets. I also have a white porcelain farmhouse sink ...but will it be too white against the cabinets? Any recommendations on quartz? I almost want to call the cabinet maker and see if I can change color.... Anyone in this same sitatuon and find the perfect quartz to go with ALbaster?

How about a darker colour counter so you don't need to worry about competing shades of white in your counters and cupboards. The problem often encountered is one looks more white than another and something ends up looking dingy in comparison.

I was just on the Cosentino site (they may Silestone and Dekton) and I see some new lines and colours which look really beautiful.

    Here are some options:

This one is soapstone Barroca - I'd love to see this on a full slab. I think it looks gorgeous.

Eternal Serena - I have this one and I love it. White perimeter and navy blue island. It looks fantastic

This one is Eternal Charcoal Soapstone. This is so gorgeous - I saw it in their showroom and fell in love...

This one has the creamy background you mentioned but the veining leans more taupe than grey. It depends on your taste but there are other similar options if you can go to their showroom.

Another option that sounds like it would work with your colour choices.

Take a door sample and go visit some showrooms. Don't try to pick from small samples - you need to go see the real thing and see the whole slab so you can see how the veining will play out. You'll see a lot more of the veining on a full slab on your island but you only get half of that on your perimeter counters and the effect can be quite different on smaller pieces.

I really don't want a darker counters. In my mind I wanted more white. I've been to a show room and looked at some big slabs. I also will have a navy blue island so don't want dark on that. That's is when I changed my mind and wanted the Hanstone Montauk . It is a creamier color and has some movement than some but not sure if it wil be still too white. Wondering if anyone else has been in dilemna? I would love tio see pictues of light quartz with Albaster in kitchens that peoplel have and love.

Hi , I was wondering what paint you ended up going with . I love white dove too but my cabinet maker uses Sherwin Williams. I painted a door White Dove in my kitchen and then I painted part of the door over with SW alabaster and it’s barely discernible . The White Dove reads more yellow, slightly , and the Alabaster reads with a touch of gray . But you have to really look hard to tell the difference . I think the Alabaster will look nice. I also need to pick a quartz.

I don't know why Alabaster is recommended so much because it is a tricky color with its yellow/greige undertones in certain lighting conditions. In direct afternoon sunlight in our house it is positively yellow,/green but not anywhere else.

Please recommend white quartz that would go well with SW Alabaster cabinets, i am having a hard time coordinating, it either too gray or too yellow, is it better with large veins or more quieter look?
    Thank you

I had a designer specify Frosty Carrina, London Gray, Viatera Minuet, or Alpine Mist to go with creamy off white like SW Alabaster .

I put in sw alabaster cabinets and was afraid they would be too yellow. They look stark white. I haven't picked out a countertop yet.

Thanks for that , Suzanne. This site has me second guessing my Alabaster cabinets and worrying they will look yellow! Would love to see a pic of your kitchen as I am now choosing a backsplash and hardware!

If you are nervous about the yellow of alabaster, try snowbound ... still warm, but none of the yellow undertone!

We selected alabaster for our cabinets and I’m second guessing myself. Im afraid they don’t pair well with the quartz we chose. We ordered Cambria Whitendale. Has anyone used Whitendale Quartz with Alabaster cabinets? I’m considering having the cabinets repainted…..

Interesting? I also have a cabinet maker that would only color match White Dove with Sherman Williams, so I switched to Alabaster on the upper cabinets. The cabin will have dark floors, and half the cabinets are darker stained Hickory. I can't decide what quartz to go with. I was thinker lighter like Calacatta... something. There is a lot of them to choose from. I was also worried about not matching the Alabaster color with the white so I started looking at the black counter tops. There is plenty of sun in the kitchen but all ready a lot of dark going on. I need to decide soon. Anyone regret matching Alabaster with thier white to cream color countertops? Anyone have black countertops and regret it? How about Alabaster cabnets with black countertops? Inquiring minds want to know:) Thanks

Someone said Empira Black. I have that in granite in my bathroom with a leather finish so put it with Alabaster and I do like it.

I have just put in Alabaster cabinets, looking for quartz ideas. Does anyone have any pictures or ideas of quartz and backsplash that go well with alabaster. I am looking at Calcutta musk and lumataj?

@kmanzin start your own post, this is two yrs old

kmanzin - I was going to post the same thing as tracefloyd did below. You won't receive much attention asking your question at the end of someone else's post from two years ago.

However - this is a combination someone used -MSI Calacatta Prado quartz + WOW Fez tiles in white gloss for backsplash (sort of similar to Bedrosian Cloe with the variation in tones - but a smaller size):

Many people have done Taj Mahal quartzite with Alabaster cabinets - but that's a quartzite - not a quartz.

You really should start your own post!
