I am staining my parents stairs and I have succesfully applied my first top coat of poly. Howver due to holidays and a planned trip I I have ran out of time to sand and apply another coat.

Is it ok to apply the next poly coat in a few weeks or a month? can the stairs be lighlty used until second coat?
