Favorite ideas for hood range without adjacent cabinents?

I don't like having grease splashing the sides of cabinets--overtime they just turn yellow and look gross.

What are some better options besides cabinets adjacent to a hood range? I guess going bare is one option, shelves are another. Or maybe cut the cabinets higher so it's flush with the hood range.

What do you have and are you happy with it?

Youve obviously always needed a bigger and better hood if you’ve had grease splashing on adjacent cabinets. So pay attention as to how to upgrade your ventilation to bigger and better. Externally ducted with a 8”-12” duct is where to begin. 6” wider and deeper than your cooking surface is second. More CFM and engineered Make Up Air is the third step.

Personally I liked the look where I had a hood built in (larger than the range top) by about 4-6" each side. Then, I also pushed my cabinets about 6" back on each side. So I didn't have a continuous run of cabinets-- this is more about looks as I've never really experienced big grease spatter on my cabinets even when the hood was installed as part of the cabinet run. Mine was kind of a french country style that tapered toward the ceiling but of course a zillion style options.
