Recessed lighting installation problem...ugh!

Hello~Our ceiling is 1.25" thick because the sheet rock is over the original old wood ceiling. The clips for the can light can't be adjusted to accommodate the thickness, thus it is hanging by the wires into the room. Any ideas? Thanks for any help!!

If your trim is separate from the housing (usually is), you can run a few drywall screws up through the wallboard and into the wood ceiling on the rim of the housing..if it is a remodel can. Could you snap a picture and shout out when you have it posted? I could be of more help with that much more information.
