What color/stain for bench in bedroom

Hello, I have a special hope chest/bench that has been in the family for a long time. I would like to have it in our bedroom and know that the color needs to be updated/changed to blend with our bedroom set. I'm at a loss.....Could someone please give me some suggestions? I also plan on replacing the rug with laminate flooring and add an area run under the bed. Thank you for all your suggestions!

The color appears to work fine - you just need to add a bit more of the color in other spots in the room (your lamp bases already help blend things together). Instead of changing the wood, I would change the cushion to coordinate better with your bedding.

I was thinking it needed to be painted or stained......some sort of update....cuz it does look old and doesn't mesh well with my furniture

I just had my Mom's Lane cedar chest stripped (it was blue with applique, very 70s). We painted the base BM Linen White and stained the top. It is stunning. In your case, here, I think it fights with the bed. Is there another place in the home that it could live?

BM Linen White might be a good place to start. You'll have to bring home some chips to find the right color. Something a little lighter than the bed. Don't try to match the bed. The cover on the cushion looks too white, so after you paint the chest you'll have to see how that looks and maybe change it.

The place that did my chest for me said that BM has a line of paints that are made for projects such as this, so I had the entire BM catalog to choose from. I agree not to try to match the bed. Your chest would be pretty in a sage green.
