It's an amaryllis bulb, Hippeastrum species and hybrids. Lots of online sources spell out care requirements.

after a gigantic bloom ... it goes dormant .. and can be stored for the next year ... but it need be stored properly ... so as to not dry out too much ...

if it doesnt come out of dormancy soon... it might not ...

give it a little water ... and see what happens ... but be careful... as i suspect that pot has no drain hole.. and it is not a bog plant ... and that might be why it might not take off and grow again ....

gardengal48 (PNW Z8/9) Thanks for the link ! My granddaughter's fiance gave me two amaryllis bulbs for Christmas, to my delight. I followed the instructions they came with, but I like the information in your link better.

Mine are in pots with no drain holes, too, so I didn't give them much water. Each of mine has one new green leaf and most of the old leaves are green as well. The one in Kristyl's pic looks awfully brown and the soil looks damp. I hope it's okay.
