Laundry room/mudroom cabinet ideas needed

(Forgive the messy room. I have semi-feral children)

Any suggestions for the corner in this picture? Currently it houses the tall, deep cabinet but it is awkward, hard to get into and not utilized properly. We plan on moving the coats to the opposite wall (on the left of this picture) to free up space but I’m still not thrilled about the cabinet. Also, I hate to cover up the beadboard wainscoting any more than I have to but I know I may not be able to avoid that. Would love some outside the box suggestions, TIA!

Even with 3 doors into the room, it’s not a small space and definitely has potential. Here’s what I would do as a professional cabinet maker:

Install 3 lockers with drawers and a bench where your current bench and picture are. This way you still have the functionality of a bench but the closed storage for coats, shoes, backpacks etc. Maybe something like this from one of my projects:

Then you could add cabinets on either side of the washer and dryer that goes to the ceiling, giving you more storage space and also drawing the eye up, making the space feel bigger. You can even add design details like those shown in this laundry room’s top cabinets:

Overall, adding closed storage will help the space feel bigger, giving all the stuff that comes with raising a family a place to be.

Try to separate the "mudroom" side from the "laundry" side of the room.

That is the other side of the room, unfortunately space is limited with the three doors in the room. The coats will go on the wall with the painting.

I’d do a real closet where the coats currently are.
(Unless you have a coat closet elsewhere? And just want a few out for easy access??)
Then put the sink under the window.

Washer and dryer by the wall.
I like the bench and painting as is.
Good layout.
Moving the coats to that wall will impede on the whole space. No?
Beautiful detailing!!! Really nice character which I’m sure is throughout much of the home. Love it 💖

If you really need a cabinet of some sort there then install something higher quality than what you have. Kitchen cabinet makers will have something. Don't go to a big box store as there are too many negative stories on this forum about them. Also, anything available online will be RTA MDF which isn't quality. Since it will be deep, consider drawers or pull-out shelves - depending on what you have to store there.

If a counter would be more useful, put in a counter. If you're interested and if it's time to buy new machines, get front-loaders and you could have a counter all the way across the wall.

Once you move the coats, you could install cabinets in an L shape, starting where the coats now hang. You will have a blind corner, but how convenient would it be if you have a countertop front the edge of the door to the wall? Hang tall cabinets above the counter to store laundry supplies on the lower shelves and less used items on the upper shelves. Your woodwork is beautiful and the proper cabinets built and stained to match would be stunning as well as useful. For the wall where the picture now is, you could have a coat closet built to fit the space. In our old house, we kept the chair rail and notched the back of our custom coat closet so we didn’t damage the chair rail. You can protect your bead board if you just set the closet in front and only use minimal fasteners to attach it to the wall.

This look of this mash-up of ideas leaves a lot to be desired, but the idea is to place the sink under the window as Sarah Barber suggested, but place the washer and dryer on either side, with wall cabinets above each that go all the way to the ceiling. Hopefully, there would be enough space on the right for coats and shoes. You have such a lovely room! I love the wall with that gorgeous painting and wouldn’t want to change a thing there. If the measurements work out for this layout, I would wait until your budget allows for a custom build that suits the quality and character of your home.
