last modified: 4 years ago

So... I'm a mess. Just like this kitchen. I know its distracting to see everything everywhere, but if you can get past that maybe you can help me! I need to figure out where to put the pantry cabinets in reference to the refrigerator. And what to do because of the low window to the left of the stove... pictures in comments as I've never posted here, usually just read!

?? ... OR eliminate one pantry? Put refrigerator in the middle... and a corner bench seat in front of window and to the pantry, would make it 6x4' ...OR a desk/command center in the corner? I have three kids... one out of the house but frequently here 😭😂 and an 8 year old and a 12 year old.

Please post a scaled drawn out floor plan with all dimensions. If you have read here you would know that no one can offer solid advice without dimensions and a floor plan.

I gave the dimensions of the area I am referring to...

You need to post a scaled drawing of the kitchen first, , and then the house as a whole. If you cannot do that, in order to get real world accomplishable suggestions for a tweak, then hire the Kitchen Designer that you so desperately need. Because you need much more than a tweak. You need a full blown redesign. With the appropriate budget that is needed to accomplish that.

Dimension with no context are useless the way to get help here is a to scale floor plan showing all windows doorways and all measurements clearly marked To be honest the time to get this help was before you got the cabinets Those pantry cabinets needed to be bought and sized to fill that wall so a bit more as to what you are doing will be helpful too.

Jen, you can do something like this put 2- 1 1/2" fillers on each side of your ref add a 36X24"Deep cabinet above and a 27" pantry near the window... With all the stuff you got there it looks like you need plenty of storage. Something like this

I assume there is a stove under that hood? LOL

    Good luck

That's what I was thinking... seamless is probably better than adding more stuff.

And yes, the stove starts 32" from the right side of the low window....

Do you think I should put the refrigerator more to the right... to center it would probably make the "work triangle" less flowy with the island?

It's fine where it is this way the passageway is not obstructed by the island... Is this a total kitchen remodeling or you just adding an island and modifying that wall?

Total remodel... Does that change things as far as what you think would be best?

The cabinets I'm playing Jenga and Tetris with are all changeable if that helps... But I do like the pantry refrigerator wall idea. A few years ago I built a temporary pantry that we use often and its very functional. Just not "finished" , like most things around here, lol. But getting rid of that instead of adding doors would give me clearance for an island with ample space on either side.

@GN Builders L.L.C... Clearly I'm not a "pro"... but it worked for my kids and I. And I only have a 54"w x 90"h now... so we will have more putting a pantry on the refrigerator wall.

Hire a kitchen designer. Your plans are not as functional as they need to be in order to be worth the large expense of a gut remodel. https://www.remodeling.hw.net/cost-vs-value/2021/

It looks like you have covered up the opening to the garage.
