All sink manufacturers, including stainless steel, say this; it's nonsense. I've installed hundreds of these sinks with 0 complaints. Spray it with a little Countertop Magic now and again and the water beads and evacuates nicely.

Elkay Quartz Luxe is the premier composite sink. Much more dense than others.

I love the look but it requires more attention than a good stainless sink. In addition to rinsing it after every use, I clean with soap & a sponge a couple of times a week and when I notice it's getting grungy I'll clean it with vinegar, Hope's Perfect Sink Cleaner, and/or a Mr. Clean Magic Eraser. I wish I could train my family not to empty their coffee cups in the sink or let dirty dishes sit in it. It's definitely more work than my old Kohler enamel cast iron sink.

A black sink wouldn't show the grunge as much. A friend of mine has a black quartz/granite-type sink (don't know the brand), and it has faded to grey in places. It can be temporarily revived with Hope's Perfect Sink Cleaner or even a quick swipe of cooking oil.

We installed an Elkay Quartz Classic (in "Greystone") undermount sink during our kitchen reno last fall. It looks great and easy to maintain. No staining or other issues thus far. Like @spammie I typically will wash down the sink with my sponge and dish soap after I'm done washing dishes.

Would like to see how this sink works with InSinkErator Evolution Compact. Are we able to keep the same perfect drain Conical strainer basket in conjunction with the garbage disposal?

No. This sink comes with a disposal flange that is compatible with the InSinkErator that you have to use which precludes the use of the Conical strainer that comes with the sink.

looks like they sell one (LKPDQD1CH) to color match the sink for a bit more pocket change that links up to some InSinkErator models.

Compact one.. it should install fine. the guy above on the thread from FL had great advice;) we still use the conical strainer that came w/ sink

It gets very light use, mostly fill up my coffee pot and wash produce. It already has a couple of chips on the bottom. No idea how they occurred as nothing was dropped in the sink. The company told me they don’t warranty against chips. It always looks dirty as everything seems to stick to it. I have two stainless steel sinks in my kitchen and they are easy to take care of compared to this sink. Very much regret my purchase.

The Ricotta Elkay Quartz Luxe is the brightest possible white they manufacture and most likely to look the worst most quickly. I've installed hundreds of these sinks and have never heard of a chipping problem until now. I'm betting someone in your home isn't as contientious as you are and maybe drops a knife now and again. Since the color goes all the way through, the chips can probably be abraded away.

I'd suggest you clean it throughly, then spray the inside with Magic Countertop or Stainless Steel Magic every month or so to abate the sticking.

The sink comes with a lifetime warranty. Perhaps you can rattle Elkay's cage a bit and have them send you a replacement sink in a different color. I got a replacement for free on a job that was obvious customer abuse.

I am the only one in my home so I know nothing was dropped in it. I thought maybe something occured during construction but I have lived in my home 2 years and I just now noticed the chips. Regardless, who wants a sink that is that easy to chip. Something that is used daily in a kitchen should be more durable than that. I disagree that the color goes all the way through. The chips are dark and quite noticeable on the white. I did contact Elkay and the best they could do was send me a grid. Like I said, would never purchase again.

Your chips are now contaminated; that's how they appear dark. I have seen the color go all the way through with my own eyes on broken sinks.

I know this is an older post. But I just have to comment because I had the same issue!- only I assumed we did it without noticing. We moved since , but the chips and keeping it white make me hesitate to get the same sink. The sink is so beautiful so it makes the decision harder. I thought maybe go black or stainless. But with stainless, it’s the scratches that get me. I also love a gold faucet and not a huge fan of combining two metals at the sink.

And if the chips mean contamination, would that mean replacement will be necessary sometime soon?
