Those paintings are gorgeous! What wonderful heirlooms you have. I would not use fabric but instead would select bamboo roman shades in the same wood color as the painting frames.

Also, want to add that maybe some soft-colored throw pillows with texture (and not print fabric) would work-nothing to distract the eye from that lovely art!

are the paintings going over the bed? They will be far enough way from the window so I don't think you have to have the exact colors to match.

I do agree about the bedding. something w/a print would look nice. maybe the shams or a throw or even printed sheets?

what about something like this bed? and the textures are nice too.

if doing all white, bring in a chunky blush throw, some blush pillows, fluffy rug or a sisal rug like above

or, try the turquoise to play off the painting. do a textured basket at the foot

similar colors, but they accented w/the gray.

I’ve been struggling with this room since last summer, nothing I pick is quite right.

I don’t need functioning shades over the windows as the room isn’t really used. I was looking to add a little more color/texture/ interest at the window. I thought it looked a bit plain. Is it ok as is? Ive also debated about painting the curtain rod gold; its a piece of conduit so not expensive.

I would like to put the paintings over the bed, but I’m afraid they’re a tad too small. I have three in total, but the third has a different frame.

I wanted to add some textured pillows, the second fabric Patricia suggested is what I had in mind but couldn’t find. I can sew, which maybe gives me too many options.

I agree it needs something to tie the colors together on the bed. I do love the chunky throws!:). I just don’t know what the right print/accents are to layer the pinks in different shades and bring in a touch of the blue, Without it looking like baby colors and still working with the art.

Agree that the solid white duvet isn’t the best choice, it’s something I already had and was trying to save $$ by reusing,

those pieces are too small in those frames. they need mats and new frames. this way you could arrange them over the bed. Since they are heirlooms, take them to an art/framer and have them professionally done. At least get them in some decent looking mats so that the subject (seascape) is fully viewable. right now the frame just cuts them off, if that makes sense.

chalk painting that bed frames and lightly distressing it would look great w/your pink-ish coastal theme coloring.

I can picture the look in my head. the bed frame would be distressed so that it has a cottagy-coastal look w/the dark wood peeking through. Perfect for the style of the bed and the look you want.

maybe hang some rattan style pendant lights in the corner over a chair or dresser?

not this big, but you get the idea . bring in a jute rug under the bed

maybe even do a board/batten wall behind the bed? (love this rug)

you can do a copy cat look and just nail up the 'boards'. do a 1X3 slat and space them across the wall. paint.

see how this wall trim is done? super simple.

in the corner, find a little table, maybe the plant, and decorate like shown. can you do a flush mount beaded ceiling light?

they even have them in pink.

I thought about adding some family pictures at the beach to make a gallery wall, but I was t sure what style frames would work or how to arrange so the pictures and paintings look balanced?

sasha, the frames don't have to be expensive, and you can buy your own mats.

look for sales on frames (they often have 2 for 1 at kohls or aaron bros). all types of mats you could try.

i'm sure if you look up, "budget reframing' or how to reframe w/a mat on a budget' you could find help.

right now, I think the paintings really don't look as good as they can. trying to add more 'misfits' to the party isn't going to help. Gallery walls need to be cohesive or else they look chaotic.

Same/similar frames, picture content and colors are what you need.

you can redo all pictures for less than $25 each?? just research it a bit.

What is on the other two walls? The paintings are beautiful and it seems you might enjoy looking at them closer up versus above the headboard.

@Beth H. :The small painting is a watercolor on paper, the pink is on some type of textured, thick hard canvas board, the blue is painted on wood. I don’t think 2 will fit in stock frames due to their thickness; and they’ve been in their existing frames since the 30s and 40s

@mjd232 All of the walls are bare currently, but i still run into the problem of what else to put with them since they are smaller. i was hoping to figure out how to mix things with them.

Maybe we might have some suggestions if you could add photos of the other walls. Also are you planning nightstands and lamps as this will impact the design?

Also could you provide the approximate sizes of the images of the paintings without the frames. Thanks.
