Stack 2x8 marble tile in kitchen?

Hello! We are in the final throes of building our kitchen, waiting on our delayed cabinets to come in so we can finish this up and move back in! We are doing a 2x8 marble backsplash (https://www.tileshop.com/products/hampton-carrara-polished-marble-subway-tile-2-x-8-in-657396) and debating a traditional horizontal staggered stack vs. a straight horizontal or vertical stack to lean a little more modern. But I can't find any pictures online of a straight marble stack...I can only find solid porcelain or glass subway this way. Does marble look weird stacked straight? We'd have 18" of backsplash to the cabinets and higher up to the range hood, so I'm guessing vertical probably won't work.
Will attach pics of the tile and counter momentarily. The cabinets are Oyster White (slight grey undertone), dark navy island, light white oak 4" floors.
