Side Dryer Vent - Left or Right

I'm researching new dryers and found one from LG. I have a gas dryer, and I need a side vent. LG says that Gas dryers can only vent to the left. Is that the left when I'm facing the dryer...or the left from the back of the dryer. I can't get answer from anyone......and I don't want to buy a $900 dryer and not be able to fit it in my space because I can't side vent. Thank you so much!!

Seems like you should be able to look up the LG model you're considering and see the specifications sheet on it for the answer you need.

Yes, I did look up the model and have the manual downloaded....however, the manual is for both gas and electric so when it describes the side vent it doesn't specify if the picture is a gas or electric model. It just says gas models can not vent to the right... but it doesn't say if that is my right or the dryers right. The picture shows it going to left...but t he manual is for both electric and gas models.

Should be left per front of the machine. Right venting likely is blocked by the gas burner (and heating element of an electric model) mounted at the base on the right side.

It's always prudent to cite the specific model number of the appliance involved when asking questions ... some people answering questions may want to look up specifications, installation or user instructions for clarification, or may have access to technical documents.

Yes. And you also need the extra-cost adapter kit for side venting.

These photos are an electric Whirlpool unit. It can be vented out the back, left, right, and bottom. There's room to run the exhaust to the right under the heater box. Models that can't route out one side or the other are obstructed by the electric element housing or the gas burner assembly to the respective direction.

Changing the routing requires disassembling the machine for access. The 4" exhaust duct in the center is removed from the blower housing and either cut shorter and reused or replaced with a new shorter piece and a 90° elbow to the left or right (or bottom) for routing through a pre-scored knock-out on the side or bottom accordingly. This model has a sound insulation panel on the left that also has a scored spot to be removed for left-side conversion. An additional short piece of straight ducting is placed on the elbow to reach fully out of the dryer, or the cut-off piece of the original duct can be used for that purpose. A conversion kit offered by the manufacturer may include everything needed.
