Sorry you got burnt, I hope you’ll feel better soon. I have a Bosch oven and it works as every other over I’ve had. No burning hot air when door is closed. I’ve never had an oven where I didn’t have to stay back a bit or open the door carefully and let a bit of hot air out first before I stuck my hands in there.

The model number is HBL8443UC. The user manual says that it vents from the bottom. The installer said he has never seen an oven vent from the top like this before. It blows hot air in your face like a blow dryer when you open the door. I have never had an oven do this before. It is a single wall oven.

Jennifer, the hot air doesn’t stop blowing when you open the door. It keeps blowing full force like a hairdryer in your face on hot. When the door is closed, it vents warm air but it’s not as bad because it’s not full force.

Did you contact the place you purchased it from or Bosch? If not, try giving them a call to see what they say.

I checked and we don’t have the same model so they might have different configurations, but even so, what you’re saying sounds odd to me. I’d give them a call.

I couldn't live with that.

I'd return it and demand a exchange for a different brand.

It's a convection oven with a fan at the rear of the oven. That fan turns off when I open the door of my LG convection range. Perhaps yours doesn't.

Your oven's user manual states: "Exercise caution when opening the appliance. Standing to the side, open the door (or drawer) slowly and slightly to let hot air and/or steam escape. Keep your face clear of the opening and make sure there are no children or pets near the unit. After the release of hot air and/or steam, proceed with your cooking." (emphasis added)

The user guide does show the oven cavity vent being at the bottom, beneath the door. It also advises to stand aside, open the door slowly, and keep one's face clear when opening the door during use.

I have the same problem with a GE oven snd there is the same messagea about taking care when opening it. however: i can only stand as far back as the length of my arms, and have to bend down in front of the oven to lower the doorx i cant avoid the blast of super heated steamy air. i have been using ovens for 55 plus years and never experienced this
