I think a golden velvet like your sofa would look lovely.

I'd go with white/light. You have enough going on with your black accents, and green might be difficult with your sectional. Your fireplace is really cool. One thing that stands out to me -- have you thought about getting more modern fans/lights? Do you need a fan in the DR? I really like your space.

I would go with a velvet like texture in a color similar to your walls or slightly lighter.

For the length, I was going to the floor, not puddling them.
Lighting- yes, that’s on the list. I need to update the fans in the LR and will be swapping the fan in the DR for a chandelier.

Regarding velvet- with winter here, I can definitely see that, but how does that transition to the summer months. I’ll be getting custom, so would like versatility for all seasons.
If I go either white, I was then thinking of adding the green as accent on the borders. You think I need to do same curtains in both rooms?

Well a linen like texture might be great for all seasons but I feel like your room wants something more sumputous like velvet. ;) Year round. I would use the same curtains in both rooms for flow.

Thank Cecelia! Whenever I looked at the linen samples in the room, I never was happy bc, I too, thought it need something more. I thought it was color, but I’ll bring some of white/light velvets home to sample.

Yeah and it doesn't even have to be velvet but something a little more lush looking. Suede like even.

I like the idea of a linen texture too. Where are you located? I love velvet, but that seems too formal for your space. To me, your home looks modern cottage because of the stone fireplace.

Stiley- I’m in the Northeast. Yes, I was trying for Modern Farmhouse (or cottage) not sure of the difference, but I do like woods but with clean lines, not too rustic.

Just wanted to share the curtains in my house that I think could look nice in yours too. These are from World Market, an off-white cotton, linen like texture with grommets. I love that there is a subtle basket

weave like pattern to them that makes them feel a little more special.

Celery-Wow! What a big help that rendering is! Is that Olive green? I don’t want to cause you extra work, but can you show me that color in the DR as well? And also with White\off-white? Being able to see in my room is such tremendous help! Thank you!

You could do open weave burlap like drapery panels and then apply a strip of color to the leading edge to make them special.

I like the look of the open weave burlap also! That would go with the other colors in my rug. It looks like that would be heavier then the linen to give it more substance. This is why I have trouble deciding lol

Please no to white velvet. I'm in the NE also and velvet year-round just seems too much for spring & summer. When I mentioned length fabric against the base board isn't a good idea.

I’m back — I was looking for something on the Pottery Barn site and saw that they’re having a big sale on the Belgian Flax curtains.

These are ivory … compliments your wood/stone/furniture colors well and is a lovely neutral background.

What about a cafe curtain in the same material for the smaller window by the stairs? (It might not work, I don’t what’s beyond.)

Oh, just saw your other comment. I was planning on leaving the small window at the bottom of the stairs with no curtain. Beyond that is a mudroom/laundry with a door to outside.

I like the burlap idea. I feel like Ballard Designs might have something you'd like. What type of chandy will you look for? Might be nice to echo the tones of your lamps in the living room. Great house.

Thank you tfitz1006! I was going to echo the chandelier in my kitchen which is adjacent to the DR. I will be having seat cushions made up in there so that is why I need a decision on my DR curtains to make sure everything coordinates. See attached

The reason leaning towards the green curtains was the green in wallpaper and tile in kitchen and the green in the area rug in the DR.

I got some samples yesterday and hung up today to try to narrow down choices. I did look at the suedes and velvet, but ended up with linen blends. The one ask from my husband is not solid white as he says there’s too much in the rooms, so I’ll give him that one and eliminated those. :). One is more traditional the other more transitional?? I started to pull some prints because I felt the solids were too blah in the room. I would appreciate your thoughts as I found your comments very helpful. Thank you!!

Just thought I would update you all on my final drapery choice. After living w various samples for a week, I landed on a solid green linen blend. It coordinated well w green on FP surround, area rug, kitchen wallpaper, and doors leading out to deck and garden area. Hope you like, and thank you all for your suggestions and help!
