My hoya collection really began with lucky finds at big box stores. After that, I started touring local nurseries and smaller boutique plant shops. Then I found people selling from their homes. After that, it became online shopping (ebay, etsy). I have also imported twice from AHHoyas and MyHomeNature.

Lately I have been very pleased with plants from unsolicitedplanttalks.com and canopyplantco.com. IMO, UnsolicitedPlantTalks is hands-down the best domestic hoya seller. Her plants are large, healthy, packaged and shipped with amazing care and her prices are in line with the market.

The other option is trading. If you have any to trade, finding people to trade with is usually free so that's also a wonderful way to build your collection. There are a lot of trade groups on facebook. But I don't do FB, so I found trading on Reddit to be a good place for me.

Thanks for the input! Most of what I have are from small cuttings, so it would be exciting to get a bigger plant!

the bigger plants are obviously more expensive. But getting a nice big plant can really be worth it some times! If you get something, let us know.

My most recent purchase was this Icensis.

Just look at this beauty! I got it in November and it has put out two additional vines already. It's impressive.

I paid $65 for the plant + shipping. I felt it was completely worth it.

What popmama said. She's the expert on Hoya safaris. I'm going to lean on her knowledge as soon as the weather warms up a bit, to make some international purchases myself.

It's definitely a slippery slope! Another vote here for Unsolicited Plant Talks. Gardino's is also really good, and I've been happy with Hoyas from Logee's.

Wendy, if I lived near logees, I'm afraid my entire savings would be green, but instead of money it would be plants! In a way I'm happy there are no nurseries like logees near me.

Lol, how true! I'm glad I never have totalled up what I've spent there over the years (since I first went to Logee's in the mid to late 1970's).

The Hoyas I've seen there are all nicely established and fairly large. Not a newly rooted one node, 2 leaf cutting in the bunch :-)

Middle, fantastic! One of my dream wish list plants. Up here in north east Pennsylvania, nurseries are hard to come by which carry a decent variety of house plants.
