Impressive after how long a period of time?

I can safely say that there is nothing - NOTHING - in that tree planting methodology that follows accepted horticultural practices. Not anything I would recommend!

Of course I had to look, I've never heard of this before! Sounds like a lot of work and a lot of soil additives and in my opinion the fantastic growth is just a function of all the compost and fertilizers. I don't see anything harmful, just a little wasteful and 'extra', and it's possible the deep digging will cause settling problems later.

I'd say plant the tree normally, mulch with all those additives, and save yourself a lot of digging.

Skip the handful of earthworms, just because earthworms show up in fertile soil it doesn't mean adding them helps. They'll find their way.

Or just try the method. You'll likely end up with an awesome tree and enjoy sharing the magic behind your success.

Its the rocks that do me in. this is a terrible idea and smothers the plant roots. There are much better ideas out there. talk to your local cooperative extension service for best practices for your area.
