high humidity on 2nd floor

I have a 3 level house in Virginia. Basement is primarily underground, then I have a main floor and 2nd floor. For some reason, the humidity level on my top floor is all of a sudden very high (about 60%) while my basement is low (40%).

Can anyone help explain why the humidity would be high on my top floor versus my basement? Any ideas or tips on how to proceed would be appreciated. At this rate I’m thinking about purchasing a whole house dehumidifier.

Thank you!
