You'd have more/better options if you could move the slider, or at least change it for a single-swing door on the dining room side.

Can you move the slider to the dining room and add a window to the current slider area so you can have more counter space (adnd light)?  Also, not sure why the DW is under the window and the sink faces a wall? Have you really met with KD for the kitchen? The layout needs help.

Is that the only eating space? Because it’s on the small size too. Best to fix all of these issues now, and add another 10’ of length to the whole kitchen and dining than to live with any of that.

A 30' range is too big, I recommend a 30" range.

Haha thanks smarty pants :). The refrigerator and range are in inches, haha! Unfortunately I cannot move any window or door, the home was done in insulated concrete so it is very very thick concrete walls, and it has been poured. I am to put the dishwasher, appliances, everything in this space but I cannot Add additional spaces. Hence, kinda freaking out!

Since the house is ICF, I'm guessing it has a concrete slab foundation. If so, then you can't move your plumbing but you could switch the location of the sink with the dishwasher. At least then the sink will be under your window. I've lived with less space before, so don't lose heart. One thing to consider is a good size kitchen cart on locking wheels instead of an island. If you have electrical outlets on the side of the cabinet by the new dishwasher location, then you could roll your cart next to that counter when you need to use small appliances such as a stand mixer or food processor. Then it would be moved toward where the island is noted after you're done, or even right behind the sofa if it can double as a sofa table (i.e.: a nice wood console on locking casters that you place a silpat or other protective sheet on while cooking.)

I hope you have storage space in the laundry room. If not, then you'll have to really adapt to having the bare minimum of everything from glasses and dishes to cookware and bakeware.

How much closer? Have you considered making the slider a single, in order to extend the kitchen by a few feet? You could add upper storage and a drawer base between the corner susan and sink:

I think you can change it. Thick or thin doesn't have an impact. The headers won't change. The sliding doors are installed and can come out. Add a lower wall at the correct depth. The interior wall finish material will match. Same with the exterior finish material. The finished surfaces aren't going to be poured concrete. The dining area window is again removed. the area below is cut out. French door or doors will be custom. Now you have the room you'll want.

Inches thick of pure concrete, so an extremely daunting and expensive task to remove. I am not interested in changing the layout of the house for the above reasons. I was hoping that surely there is a reasonable layout with the design we have. If you don’t believe so, I do appreciate your opinion.

A different concept to generate ideas.

Have more drawers than doors in the kitchen cabinets.
