It is an engineered wood product, so it will be adaptable to moisture changes, but it is not waterproof. This one is European Oak and is made in Europe.

I suppose it could be vinyl but it's an end-grain look. It might be real wood. Are there pattern repeats? If not, it's probably real wood. Mesquite is fairly popular for end grain flooring. End grain flooring is very durable and was once used in factories and on early road surfaces. It's not waterproof but you're certainly smart enough not to flood it.
