Closet storage: Pax 13" or 23" width units?

Our closet is 14' x 7', and I'm considering either ClosetMaid or Pax systems. The Pax comes in either 13" or 23" deep units and I'm wondering which to pick. Also, can you mix the two, so along the long walls, use 23" on one wall and 13" on the other? We're not particularly large people, and will mostly have things in drawers or storage baskets in shelves -- very little hanging stuff. ClosetMaid (from Home Depot) seems to be 14.75" deep.

Any preference between the two?

We'll be DIY'ing the install before baseboards are put in, so we'll prefer floorstanding systems as opposed to wall-mounting them for ease of assembly.

Clothes hangers are about 17” so if you choose the 13” depth cabinets you won’t be able to put doors on them. If you don’t need doors on your closets than I think you’re fine either way. The 26” ones will give you more drawer space.

Thanks. This will be in a closet with a door, so no additional doors are needed, but that's a great point. I might try a layout with the different depths on the opposing walls.
