PebbleTec uses a larger aggregate than PebbleSheen. I would request samples and feel the differences for yourself. I prefer the feel of the PebbleSheen. However, the pool style can also influence the type used. I would be more inclined to use the PebbleTec on a pool with a lot of natural stone, PebbleSheen on average pools, and even PebbleFina on a more modern/contemporary pool. Hope this helps!

From what I understand from when I put my pool in a few years ago, pebble tec is rough on the feet. Pebble sheen is smoother. I heard stories from people about raw or even bloody feet with pebble tec. I don’t know if that was an old version, but I decided to pay the extra for the pebble sheen and I’m glad I did. I think it was a $3600 upgrade fo a 60x14 foot long pool in 2016-2017. I don’t know how big your pool is, but I am guessing prices have really gone up. I would pay the difference, even at 5000. I chose arctic white, which i am very happy with.

Thank you! This is a 20'x45' pool and we are going for a more modern look, with a rectangle shape and large pavers. It sounds like it's worth it to upgrade to Pebblesheen. I see now that our color choice is also driving the price up - we are looking at PebbleSheen Ocean Blue, which is around $3000 more than PebbleSheen Blue Surf. I've heard that Pebblefina can be problematic, particularly with mottling issues, so we were advised by the PB to stay away from that product.

Like others said, Pebble Sheen is less coarse than Pebble Tec. Pebble Tec is the original material. Pebble Fina has some really pretty colors and looks more like plaster which I like but have heard it mottles.
