Two donation quilts done

last modified: 4 years ago

These are the last two "Mom" quilts! They will go to Cornerstone Hospice.

She had pieced a few arcs of the Dresden plates and cut a bunch of the pieces. When I got the arcs appliqued onto the background pieces I found that my inside curves were not consistent, so they wouldn't make a circle. That's why I decided to turn them all different ways. LOL The backing has a few nine patches she had made.

This quilt started with the large log cabin block in the center. Mom had pieced all of it except the two longest dark strips, which I added. She had made a few pinwheels and cut a lot of triangles of two different sizes, so I added the larger ones then made the smaller ones into HSTs for the top & bottom border. The zigzag borders were pieces left over from one of my quilts. It's a bit zany, but I like the finished quilt! This backing also has a strip of squares Mom had pieced.
