finding balance in a chaotic room!

What would you all suggest for a storage/console type solution to this one side of my family room? We are about to welcome our third baby, and we have a big dog as well. Currently pictured: a small black console that holds keys/mail, the dog toys and our shoe basket! 🤦‍♀️ please help me think of a way to creatively store these things in a tasteful way!!!

PS- I included photos of the fireplace as well as the “other side” where the large black decorative mirror is. Purchasing an identical media console is not an option, as it is no longer available from west elm.

Why not move the console to the left for the storage you need, then put a taller piece that others have suggested on the right? The mirror above it would make more sense on the left, as you're leaving the room rather than on the right where it's in a corner.

I would go for something that allows you some storage--for toys/etc....

Storage is key and thought if you were handy, you might like this IKEA hack.

In order to balance other side, I’d add large, light art to get some height.

I like idea of putting something more substantial on the left. Consider rehoming the mirror for artwork on the right.

You might try placing your TV over the west elm console, and then use artwork over the fireplace. For the other side of the fireplace you could try a taller storage cabinet in the same type of wood or a metal bookshelf. You could also add built-ins if you felt like doing that work.
