I have NEVER used my Quick cycle.

Stains need time to work with temperature, detergent and agitation to loosen.

Even if no sains, body oils need to release from fibers.

I don't even think you get good rinses with the Quick cycle.

I would not recommend it.

Absolutely agree with georgect. Most quick cycles have a very short wash time and only one rinse. I've only used it after a full wash cycle if I needed extra rinses.

it might be okay once in a while for very lightly soiled items that are needed before the next load of laundry is scheduled. I do hand laundry in a sink when traveling abroad and those items survive and smell okay. I daresay a machine will do a better job than I do in a sink. ;-)

The only thing I use it on is swimwear. We have a hot tub and can't use detergent on swimwear that we wear into the hot tub. So I use quick wash on hot with a few extra rinses. That's the only time I use it.

Cavimum, back in my “travelin’ days,” I did a lot of bathroom sink laundry. I could travel Europe for a month with a carryon. So worth it. But. Over time, I’m sure body oils would build up. The Maytag does permit two rinses on quick wash. But I was very surprised to hear The Laundry Guy (?) recommending it.

I’ve never used my quick cycle. I always wait till I have a full load and use the regular wash cycle.

I've never done a quick cycle. I have used front loading washers for close to 20 years (across 3 homes), and regularly do large loads including bedding and towels without a problem.

MizLizzie, I used the quick cycle on my LG for dress shirts worn for a few hours that were not dirty, but needing a slight refresh-things like that. I am curious as to why a quick cycle being used would cause a machine to fail. That is not logical. If the tech was talking about low temp water and liquid detergents and FS in conjunction with the quick cycle, I follow his reasoning, but certainly not in principle.

I will continue to use the quick cycle for things like spring cleaning pillow covers and drapery sheers (have only one set . . .) removing chalk marks from my sewing (not much of that nowadays) and maybe an item of clothing I need immediately. Still, gotta say I was very impressd by the cycle on the Maytag.

MizLizzie - I pretty much wash every sewing project when it's done to get the marks out. Beware the blue and red chalks don't wash out well, if at all. You probably already know that ... and don't ask how I learned it - LOL Green color Flair(brand) felt-tip pen is something I read about online decades ago and it washes out every time.

Quick/express cycle is a great idea for removal of markings and glue stick (another important tool in my sewing room) and I will remember that!

The issue with quick wash cycles is inadequately rinsed laundry and wash drum. All manufacturers have different programming for the quick wash but nearly all do not extract (spin) the suds out between the wash or any of the rinses. And most folks use the same amount of detergent as a regular wash cycle so detergent builds up in the laundry and suds build up in the tub in places you can't see. Eventually your washer will start to stink.

I see no harm in using it occasionally but don't make that your go to cycle.

The express wash on my Miele is 30 minutes, if it were 45 I’d use it a lot for lightly soiled items. As is, I use it a few times a month but will often stop the machine shortly after the cycle starts to add a soak. It’s also my go-to for washing new clothes before wearing.

I used to use the quick cycle on my machine all the time when I was cloth diapering. A small scoop of detergent and a quick wash was a great pre treat,  but it was followed by a heavy soil sanitize wash.  Now that my twins are out of that stage, I haven't used the quick wash since. But, that is a great idea for new clothes! Will definitely use it the next time we get some new duds!

I use mine maybe once or twice a month. Usually my things (I'll use it for a quick light load of blacks) - occasionally a sports shirt DH has pulled from the back of his closet he has remembered he likes after several months (dust). My machine gives me the options of choosing the water temp including Hot, and I can add an extra rinse, and do, to almost every load in any setting that I wash.

I don't worry about the machine, I do plenty of deepest loads....white sheets weekly, white towels sometimes twice a week. Have the Affresh tabs with which to clean the washer too but since I wash hot water loads on deeper settings every week, I'm not apt to run the Affresh cycle every 4 weeks as recommended by the washer manufacturer, more like 6-8 weeks.

I had a warranty service call with this machine a few months ago, about the time it reached 1 year. The service person couldn't believe how clean it is after me telling him I'm washing minimum of 6 loads a week. (powdered Tide Original from Costco & Woolite for Darks for black)

Quick Wash is intended for 1 to 3 items, such as a couple shirts, shirt and slacks, etc. that need freshening with no stains, sweat odor, or other significant soiling.

Rarely. As others mentioned, swimwear. Our old Duet would wash for 3 minutes and do one rinse. It was not nearly as effective or efficient as Normal cycle with light soil level. The mention of body oil needing time to be removed is 100% correct.

I generally use it for 3-4 shirts or a pair of jeans and a sweatshirt. Sounds like I’m fortunate the Maytag quick wash is 28 minutes and you can add a second rinse, which I always do. Does anyone else follow “the Laundry Guy?” He certainly has some different notions. Although kudos to him for recommending hot water washes — warm at minimum.

MizLizzie - I never heard of the Laundry Guy and had to Google it. I don't watch HGTV, either. As for laundry guys & gals, this forum is all I need. ;-)

Quick cycle is the one I use most; probably 80% of the time. I found no difference in cleaning going from a 48 minute wash to a 20 minute wash. We use reusable white “automotive” (from Costco) towels as dust cloths, general house cleaning (not toilets) dish towels, spills, etc in lieu of paper towels. Those we do on a long soak/sanitize cycle. I also use less than the recommended amount of detergent.

I use it for new clothes just to get out the chemicals and occasionally for items that are only slightly dirty

I’m with Connecticut Yankeeee, I use that cycle several times a week for the past 10 years. It’s laundry people get over it. It’s wonderful, it’s fast not a lot of water being wasted. Great for table linens, lightly soiled kitchen cloths etc.

I cringe at the reference to “the stupid individuals …”. C’mon. Be nice.
