Is this tile job acceptable?

Laundry room floor; ceramic mosaic. One close up image is attached but there are several similar areas throughout the floor. Thank you for your help!

How much will be covered with appliances? The closeup looks less good but the overall view looks nice.

I think I like how the slight imperfections add to the plaid fabric effect, to be honest.

What a great design! Is it just thr slight misalignment or is there an issue where it’s kind of cloudy?

When I saw the picture showing the whole floor, I loved it. But as soon as I saw it in person, the misaligned areas everywhere jumped out. The right and left sides will be covered by appliances and cabinetry, but the worst mislaid areas are in the center.

I think the cloudiness is just substrate that came through--I assume they would fix that if we keep the floor, but we didn't address that yet because of the misalignment problem.

Decision made--floor pitch is way off so it needs to be redone anyway. I don't think I can replace this tile on our timeline, so I'll have to make another selection and remember this amazing plaid for some future project. Thank you for your feedback!

Well, I guess that's good, and also bad. I did like your wrinkled plaid floor. :)

If that is the worst grid match in the whole floor, consider yourself darned lucky, and move on.

Moore4, unfortunately that wasn't the worst of it; that's just a zoomed crop of the first pic. There were entire sections misaligned to their adjacent sections by half a tile. It was impossible to ignore in person. As I mentioned, it doesn't matter because we discovered that the floor sloped away from the drain, so they had to redo it anyway. I think the substrate might actually have been wavy, which could partially explain why they had such a hard time keeping the lines straight. They did excellent work in other rooms, so not sure what happened here, but everyone seems equally okay with where we're at now.
