White Ice Granite

Do you think White Ice granite is out of style? I saw it installed in a showroom and really loved it but now I’m worried that it could be considered dated or cheap. I loved that I could actually see it installed in a kitchen vs just looking at a slab, but I stopped looking and didn’t really consider other colors. I don’t like a lot of business in my granite and want something that will be timeless. By the way, my entire house will be painted SW Alabaster, floor to ceiling. Thanks

I've never been a fan of any speckly granite, even when it was first being used. A friend of mine was "shocked" when I said I'd rather have white laminate than that type of granite. In my opinion, I'm happy to see it go out of style, but if you love it, then go for it. It really doesn't matter what others think unless you are going to sell your house in the near future.

All that being said, are you sure that's real stone? It looks a bit like some of the quartz patterns I've seen. Whatever you decide, make sure you know exactly what it is before you purchase it. And get the exact slab selected, and marked for your fabricator, to avoid unpleasant surprises.

Honestly, if you love it go for it. I did granite in my kitchen when quartz had come into “fashion” and I still love my kitchen. It looks right in my house and makes me happy when I go make my morning coffee. If that slab will match your white paint, then it’s a good plan. Your happiness is all that matters. Everything “goes out of style” eventually.

    It’s a beautiful stone.

I am just happy you are not doing quartz and I like it but with no context it is hard to say for certain but on the other hand there are many fabulous white granites that are not busy speckled. One of my faves is river white granite and there are some spectacular ones mixed with black. So much depends on your style and cabinets and flooring .

Showrooms will have the best slabs on display. Be 100% sure that you can choose your own slab, not just any white ice granite. I've seen some major disappointments here when homeowners counter isn't anything like the model home's.

dpends on the slab. the colors vary greatly

this one is very yellow looking

    This one is just ugly.

    compared to this one.

STart w/the slab first. if you find one you like, go for it.

There are other granites that are very similar, so don't discount those.

I agree with all that has been said with the most important point being: YOU choose the specific granite slab and work with the fabricator to determine what parts of the slab are cut for what areas of the kitchen. DO NOT trust a big box store or a contractor/builder to do it. We chose Viscount White granite for our re-do and I love it every single time I go in the kitchen - and it's been two years! Oh, and since we have no plans to sell any time soon, I don't care if it is considered "out-of-date". It is perfect for me.

I have white ice granite with Alabaster cabinets and a grey backsplash and I love it! It is important to pick your slabs. It's a Brazilian granite and not cheap looking at all. Mine is not what I would consider speckled.
