I bought two short gardenia trees for the planters on my front porch. Thought I would try something new, and now I'm having regrets. I potted them about a week ago, and today when I watered them I noticed they're wilting. Everything I read online suggests that overwatering is the problem. I dug out the potting soil and left the root ball exposed for each plant while still keeping them tucked in the containers. I'm hoping this will allow them to get some air and dry out a bit. I'll check them tomorrow and will probably add dry potting soil around them at that point. Has anyone had experience with tending to gardenias in containers? Does it sound like I'm doing the right thing to remedy the issue?
