Container Gardening Insects

Are these yellow garden spiders?

Hello,

I found these insects hanging from my container of lacinato kale. They look too large and yellow to be spider mites, at least the ones i normally see in the garden. Based on my google research, i believe they’re beneficial yellow garden spiders. Can someone confirm this?

Yes, just a hatch of common garden spiders. Not an uncommon sight at this time of year.

FWIW, spider mites are too small to be easily seen by the naked eye.

Ok thanks for confirming! I’ll let them enjoy life.

I once shook some spider mites on a piece of white paper and could see them but they just look like tiny moving dots. I pulled out my macro lens and took a photo and sent it to my agricultural extension office. They confirmed spider mites. I get them every year for some reason. Neem, soap, diatomaceous, nothing seems to work on them. Thats why i was concerned these arachnids i found this morning were spider mites on steroids.
