Dekton without proper underlayment is like a car with wheels and no tires. As long as your design incorporates the proper underlayment, you'll be fine, but plop a Dekton remnant on a table base naked and you're asking for danger and heartbreak. Maybe footbreak.

@Joseph Corlett, LLC and @Cosentino North America I posted a related question in discussions on counter products, including Dekton...link>> counter questions As I said, one store steered me away from Dekton--said they would still sell it but would do no miters. I then went to big box store; they literally had their samples hidden away at the request of their fabricators. The salesperson sheepishly told me that they do their best not to sell it because of all the problems. I don't need mitered edges, but how can I get it if the suppliers don't have answers? And what really is the way to avoid chipped edges?

Make them more rounded; unfortunately, Dekton doesn't lend itself to that.
