Kitchen remodel organization

We've recently remodeled our peninsula style kitchen to now include an island and an entire pantry wall. I don't know what to do with all of my new space! Where do I start organizing?

How exciting! I’d stand in each area and think what you need within reach at that spot… especially the stove… pots, pans, baking pans, cooking utensils, measuring cups, oils spices… Dishes…close to dishwasher and near stove if you serve from there…glasses…on the way to the fridge to get water and ice. There is an abundance of ideas online. I used Pinterest and Houzz a ton when we built.

Dig out your wish list from the planning file! Did you have a list of what was bugging you about the old kitchen? Why you wanted to put different kinds of storage in certain places? Start with that.

That is done in the DESIGN phase, so you have appropriate storage at the point of use where needed. Your pots and pans go in pot and pan drawers next to your cooking zone. They do not go in a pantry wall storage across from a barricade island any more than you put your fridge across a barricade island, directly unreachable from a direct path from the sink. Good usable design with storage in mind isn’t happenstance after the fact.

I take an organic approach to organizing -- don't follow a plan of where things should go, think to yourself about where you want things to go. We've all been in enough kitchens in our lives that we have a feel for what feels right to us. Stand at the stove and think about where you would naturally reach for a pot or a slotted spoon. Where do you want to reach for a glass, and when you take a plate out of the dishwasher, where do you want to put it? That's where they should go :)

do you have any base drawers? for only a few base drawers that would be utensils. then dishes near dishwasher..relatively speaking , to make unloading efficient. for base cabs w just side hinges you can add glides and various organization systems . and all that pantry space can be made more efficient too if you dont have rollouts or if its just shelves so far.

Thanks for including pics with your comment. All of the bottom shelves in my pantry wall are pull out shelves. I'm going to order a pot & pan organizer also, since I used to store them with liners in between each one, which was obviously a pain. I've already purchased pantry baskets and bins, plus additional stackable shelves for short items and cans inside. ὄDὠ1
