I don't have experience with TWP 100, but looking at it briefly it seems all right. If you've been using it and are happy with the results, no need to change. The brands we sell and recommend for ipe are Ipe Oil and WiseCoat, which generally last a year or two depending on your climate. Both were made specifically for exotic hardwoods. Ipe Oil is oil-based and lasts longer, but WiseCoat is cleaner because it's water-based (easier cleanup, not as smelly, more eco-friendly).

As far as spraying is concerned, all that really matters is that you get enough on the deck surface for even coverage. I don't see why spraying then wiping down wouldn't work. Just make sure your contractor completely wipes up any excess, otherwise your deck will get tacky. And make sure they follow the safety instructions for disposing of used rags; oily rags can catch fire in high temps!

we have an ipe deck built 3 years ago and just had someone refinsih it

we used deckwise ioe oil the first time. it lasted a while, so we ised it again

so far so good !
