You're not going to find an oval that is less than 42" in depth. The length can vary.

Farmhouse dining tables, especially oval, are custom made. Search your area for a woodworker/furniture maker. Depending on the finish you want, it will determine what level craftsmanship is necessary. Where are you located? Here on houzz we have all kinds of sources.

Stick to four legs, and leaves........... and when you say long? this means WHAT? In inches? To seat how many? A pedestal will always be wider

You're reinventing a wheel ? 42 inches by 96 inches is darn common in a million different dining tables. Widen your horizons. or post a dimensioned floor plan of why a very few inches ( 4 in width, especially, TWO on each side ) would even matter. You're going to spend a fortune more $$$ being this nailed into specifics, and you haven't yet informed here, a desired wood tone, finish or anything beyond shape and rather pointlessly specific width , minimal at best. : )

THINK more LIKE THIS........ And avoid the chair leg table leg issue as well.

Room and Board will make their Adams table in any size from 24” * 24” to 32” * 120”. I assume they can do similar for their other tables that are available custom.

Finish? my favorite for the room is somethibg light in color like a pine or a light-finished oak, but i am open to options.

My reason for preferring oval-shaped, pedestal is that you can squeeze more around the sides. But i see your point, Jan, regarding the chair/feet issues.

Squeeze more at the sides? No...... and if you need more than ten at the table? You aren't going to get it with an oval, either. By definition, an oval is almost always ....especially in combination with pedestals? A far more formal feel, and formal FINISH.

You're asking for a custom table and be prepared for ten grand : ) to get it.

IMO a oval table in that width only allows on person at the end why oval , what size id the space how many seats the size you say fits 10 . More info will get more help.

Ok, here are some photos of our space to give you a better idea of what I’m working with. (ignore the kids’ Father’s Day signs on the walls 🤦‍♀️)

We have a small kitchen attached to a somewhat larger “breakfast room”, which we use for all of our meals.

Our table recently broke, so we currently have this makeshift setup using things we already had, so a small round dinette table with a folding table pushed up against it. (There are 2 stools beneath each side.)

The width of the small round table is 39” and the length of the tables together is 102”, which is a little long for our space.

Can you possibly take all the other furniture out of the room except the hutch and fit in a big round table?

That’s not a bad idea. Right now we need that extra ”counter space,“ but we will be renovating our kitchen soon and will gain some counterpace in there.

We almost always seat ten, at least for dinner. That is the door to the basement.

Great if a round table ultimately works or you. You can definitely get ones that seat 10.

I was hoping that door led to a closet so you could remove it and put shelves inside. But If you really need the extra counter space for now, maybe a higher up shelf instead or a narrower console table? (If you have a backyard, buying a narrow metal console table to go under the windows or a narrow bar cart that can later go outdoors all year might be a money-saving idea.)

Do NOTHING avout the table right now. "Table" the entire issue, until you have addressed an entire living floor that clearly is not up to ten people at any time. That means the kitchen. Your buggy is far ahead of a wise or reasonable horse. Let alone in specifics, finish , inches, pedsestal etc..............................

I hear you, @JAN MOYER. We’ve wrestled with a lot of ideas. A priority for us is being able to eat dinner together, so our current plan is to slightly expand the kitchen and rework this room. But it will still be tight.
