REally ? Show us the room and honestly I have never had a sink in my laundry room and never missed it. With the new washers even less so . They have so many options for washing why do you need a sink at all. I have Bosch and honestly I cannot think of one thing I need a sink for .

This is what we have now but we were goinf to put quartz in. our contractor is going to put wood to match the new cabniets around the washer/dryer for a built in look. we dont use it a ton but thought it would be good to keep the sink

Random thoughts:

- Count me in the group who's never had /never wanted a laundry sink.

- We had a utility sink in my mom's house when I was growing up, and it was literally never used. It was full of junk. A storage cabinet would have been more useful.

- If I did want one, I'd choose a very basic sink in the necessary size, as I wouldn't see this as a splurge item.

- I'd get a cutting-board to fit over the sink so it could work as a counter top when it wasn't being used.

I love my laundry sink and would not be without it. But a better name (for the doubters) might be utility sink. I do all my messy stuff there-- from washing boots to cleaning paint brushes to dying fabric. For a DIY person, maker or crafter a utility sink is a godsend.

I recommend the deepest sink available. If you can get one with a sloped internal front, that improves usefulness a lot. The most available choice is probably stainless steel-- a restaurant sink can work. If you want to go high-end, slate is gorgeous and bullet-proof (it's what's used in science labs). If industrial is your thing or you don't mind something built for function rather than beauty, see if you can find a salvaged concrete laundry tub like this one.

I grew up with a double concrete tub from 1918 (not that one). It's still going strong.

I have had a laundry room sink in all but one home and the house without was just a few steps from the kitchen sink.

I would not want to be without one. It is where muddy shoes get cleaned, paint brushes washed out, small dogs bathed. In the last house, I bathed by babies in it because it was a large single bowl vs the double bowl in the kitchen. They double was a workshop sink where greasy BBQ grill part, lawn mower parts & car parts get cleaned. I use a bucket in the sink to soak microfiber dish cloths in Biz or a bucket with hand washables soak.

Due to how I use the sink, I wouldn't consider any material other than stainless steel.

We have this one in ours and it’s a great depth and size for a pre-soaking, cleaning dirty items, etc. and fit our smaller cabinet space.

Adding my voice to affirmation for a sink in the laundry room, or a utility sink somewhere in your home. If you garden, have pets, paint, remodel, work on your car in some manner, have kids, it will be used many times. For example, If our dog vomits and I use the Little genie to clean it up, the LR sink is the perfect place to fill the reservoirs and empty them. The sink really does come in handy.

I too would never build a home without a sink in the laundry room.

Use it every day and would never want to do some of the things I do in it, in my kitchen sink!

I wish I had a mop sink vs my 80's single laundry tub. LOL

The fact that it has no utility sink is one of the more frustrating things about this rental. We use one to pre-wash rags, clean the barbeque, etc. It’s annoying to have to do all of that in the main kitchen sink.

I just have a regular Home Depot slop sink in my basement laundry area.

Yes it's handy for laundry issues but more so for washing paint brushes or stuff like that.

I use it on wash day just to purge the cold water from the hot water line, since they share the same water line.
