Well, I wouldn't pick new stone (expensive, limited choices) to match paint (cheaper, infinite colors), but if you already dislike the stone and backsplash, then this could be a fortuitous time to change both.

Thanks acm I am in severe dilemma whether it is practical to get rid of my granite top just like that.... I am not big fan of granite we have. Love white countertops you see everywhere.

If you don't love the granite? Pick a quartz or other material FIRST. A switch of microwave would be nice as well.

I've never been a fan of that type of granite, so I would definitely change it. But it depends on your budget too. You could keep the granite and paint the cabinets a coordinating green, which could work with the granite. But if you have the budget to do both the c-tops and the cabinets, and want a white counter top, then perhaps blue cabinets would look nice with white c-tops and work with the color palette of the rest of your house. Doing white with white is tricky unless you're very comfortable with matching whites (which all have an underlying color to them). Then after all that it's possible that the old backsplash will not look good with the new items, so you'll probably want to change that out as well. Ka-ching, ka-ching.

IMO the granite should be replace with something white.

Also consider the low profile microwave OTR.

If you don’t love that granite, choosing a cabinet color to work with them doesn’t make sense. Go to stoneyards and see if you fall in love. THEN choose the paint color for your kitchen.

I love the idea from Diana of white countertops and blue cabinets. Or green! Something soft and easy to live with.
