SP not taking orders currently would be a good thing in my honest opinion as they are not worth ordering, and W/S is worse choice. Maybe look into Kolbe Forgent if fiberglass is what you are thinking in addition the Elevate or Essentials from Marvin. What area of the country are you building?

What are you looking for the windows to look like material wise? Is a higher end vinyl an option an option for you?

No ARB prohibits vinyl.

Hiilarious and accurate take on SP by MYM... As some one who is generally a fan of higher end vinyl windows, strength is a quailty of vinyl that needs to be overcome and enhanced with smart engineering. For SP to use it as the "structure" of the window (with wood and metal then scabbed onto the interior and exterior) is one of the more puzzling and dubious choices in the window industry IMHO.

What is the wording of the ARB regarding vinyl? Sometimes fiberglass and other options can be precluded as well. If not, the Marvin choices would be worthwhile to explore.

We have owned a lot of houses and renovated or custom built. We have had almost as many different window brands. (We did not like Marvin...(the seals kept leaking on the sliders).

Hands down? Anderson 400 series.

ARB guidelines read "No vinyl windows, recommend aluminum clad, steel, or wood units". Looks like fiberglass would be acceptable, or at least not prohibited!

Look at the Marvin Signature Modern line if you want even thinner frames than Essential or Elevate.

We used Milgard fiberglass windows in our last house and have put them in the new one. They are nice and solid, and you can’t beat the warranty.
