The plant commonly referred to as "hummingbird sage' is Salvia spathacea and it has magenta flowers. I believe what you are growing is Salvia guaranitica, which has bright blue flowers. Hummers really don't care what sage/salvia they visit.....they seem to like them all :-)

Culinary sage is Salvia officinalis. Other species are not used for this purpose, except for Salvia elegans, aka pineapple, melon or golden delicious sage but that teds to have a very fruity flavor and is best used in things like lemonade, iced tea or fruit salads

It is a guaranitica. But the company seems to be taking liberty as also describing it as Hummingbird Sage?

If I see one 'bird' on it it will have been worth it :).

*I* haven't seen a hbird on it but I will for sure buy it again next year. as we love these flowers...striking colour.

This is also called Black and Blue Salvia? I planted 2 this year. saw a couple times a hummingbird visiting them.

They are supposed to spread but sobfar they really have not grown much at all.
